CARING FOR YOUR TABLE
Our products are made of White Pine. They are sanded, stained and then varnished with multiple, hand painted coats of Marine Spar varnish, we sand between every coat of varnish. If your table is used outdoors, we recommend that in the winter your table should be protected by tipping the table on it's side to allow for precipitation to run off, or if able to be taken indoors. Never use plastic protection directly on varnished surfaces as this will cause the varnish to lift!
Outdoor furniture should be refinished every 2-3 years as needed to restore it's beauty. To refinish your table lightly sand the surface with 220 grade sand paper, then re-varnished using a Spar varnish. Products kept indoors may never need to be refinished depending on use.
Remember, your furniture is made for outdoor use, because of the outdoor elements certain things can happen, such as hairline cracks and sap bleeding around the knots. If sap bleeding occurs, wait until sap dries, lightly sand and re-varnish.
Note: Never varnish under the table top or benches to allow the wood to breathe, however you may use linseed oil on the underside of the table to add moisture to the wood. Only varnish where your table is now varnished. With a little care, your table will last many years.
